My Coastal Life is a photography competition which challenges students to think creatively about their coastal environments. The challenge is for them to take one photo of their favourite coastal scene and write fifty words explaining their choice. These photos will be uploaded to our inter-active map allowing students to share their own perspectives with contemporaries around the ocean rim. There are fantastic prizes on offer and the chance to have your photo judged by one of the world's leading explorers.

What has this got to do with climate change?
More than 50% of the world's population live within 50km of the coast. As more people depend on the resources offered by the world's coastlines, it becomes increasingly important to maintain the health and productivity of these valuable coastal ecosystems. This compettion encourages students to engage with their coast and assess why it is important to them.
Following the competition we will launch lesson plans on coastal management and climate change. The photographs will enable students to see different perspectives of the Atlantic coast and to collaborate with schools in other countries.
